The final result can be seen on a wall or at a celebration, but behind every piece there is a process that often remains invisible.
Casting a piece does not simply mean pouring metal into a mold.
Each stage prepares the next. A mistake in the mixture, the mold, the temperature, the pour, the cooling, or the cleaning can affect the whole piece.
When a piece leaves the workshop, it carries with it the result of many decisions that cannot be seen at a glance. That is precisely where the craftsman’s experience lies: in knowing what to observe, when to intervene, and when to preserve the natural mark of the material.
Preserving the model
The workshop safeguards the models that gave rise to each piece. They are kept protected and reviewed before starting a new casting, to make sure every relief and proportion is preserved.
Preparing the mold
From the model, the mold that will shape the bronze piece is prepared, taking care that every artistic detail stays faithful to the original.
Preparing the metal
The bronze to be cast is selected and prepared, calculating the amount needed according to the size and complexity of each piece.
Casting
The metal is melted at high temperature. The artisan watches its behavior to determine the precise moment it is ready for pouring.
Pouring
The metal alloy is poured into the mold with precision and coordination, making sure it fully fills every relief of the piece.
Cooling
The piece remains inside the mold for as long as needed for the metal to fully solidify, without rushing the process.
Demolding
Once cool, the piece is removed from the mold, and the channels and edges that must be removed before continuing are reviewed.
Cleaning
Casting residue is removed, protecting the most delicate details of the composition.
Finishing
The piece receives polishing, patina and final finish, highlighting the reliefs and the characteristic shine of bronze.
Final inspection
Before leaving the workshop, every piece is reviewed for its integrity, stability, details, installation system and packing.
Fidelity is not uniformity
Over the years, some people have noticed certain irregularities in the pieces and assumed they were mistakes. However, not everything that departs from industrial symmetry is a defect.
Art can use proportions, gestures, textures and lines that do not aim to reproduce reality photographically. Its intent can be to express, to proclaim, or to guide the gaze.
Our work does not consist in indiscriminately smoothing every surface until its character is erased. It consists in understanding what belongs to the model, what arises naturally from the casting process, and what must be corrected to guarantee a quality piece.
Every piece keeps the strength of having been made by human hands.
