Processional Cross

A cross that does not end in death

In this piece, Christ is not presented simply as a defeated man.

The cross rises and takes up space. Its forms open in different directions, and the composition proclaims that death does not have the last word.

That is why we speak of a Glorious Cross. Not because it denies suffering, but because it shows that, through the giving of Christ, what seemed like defeat is transformed into life.

For our workshop, casting this cross means giving visible form to a proclamation: love can pass through suffering and turn it into salvation.

The center of the piece

At the center is Christ.

The other forms, movements and symbols are arranged around Him. He is not one more detail within the composition, but the point from which the whole piece draws its meaning.

The gaze can begin at the edges, travel across the reliefs, and finally come to rest at the center, where the giving of Christ is proclaimed.

The four evangelists

In Christian tradition, the four evangelists have been represented through four figures: the man or angel, associated with Saint Matthew; the lion, associated with Saint Mark; the ox, associated with Saint Luke; and the eagle, associated with Saint John.

In this piece, these signs can be understood as a reference to the Gospel proclaimed to every corner of the earth.

Cast in bronze

The piece is made in bronze through a handcrafted process.

This material allows the reliefs to be reproduced, preserves small textures, and creates a surface capable of changing according to the light and the angle from which it is viewed. Its durability allows the piece to accompany a community or a family for many years.

The processional set

The Processional Cross is delivered as a complete set, ready for use in the liturgy and in the community’s celebrations.

It includes the cross, the pole that allows it to be held up during the procession, the tripod to display it standing when it is not in motion, and two wooden cases — one for the cross and one for the tripod — lined and shaped to fit each piece, ready for transport and safekeeping between celebrations.

Imperfection as a mark

Looking closely at the cross, textures, asymmetries and small irregularities can be found.

The industrial impulse would be to eliminate them until producing a completely uniform surface. Our work starts from a different decision: to preserve the features of the model and allow the piece to keep the strength of a work made by human hands.

Fidelity does not mean delivering a piece without quality control. It means not erasing its expression in the name of an industrial perfection.
